Today, on December 31st 2017, the ban on legal ivory trade in China is finally coming into effect!
This is the greatest single step toward reducing the brutal poaching which kills on average 100 elephants every day. China have been the world’s largest market for legal ivory and therefore a major driver of elephant poaching in Africa. Read full article at National Geographic here!
Even though we believe the illegal trade will still continue in big scale, we hope that this law will make it more difficult for the criminal syndicates to trade ivory. We also hope that this will eventually have an effect on the demand, so that elephants can continue to roam our planet like they have for million of years.
